Color My World: Hope Crochet Shawl

Color My World: Hope Crochet Shawl

Boy am I glad it’s 2024. Sharing with you my completed crochet shawl. This shawl has special meaning to me since I started it last year during the darkness of Winter. I knew it’d take awhile to complete (possibly spilling into the new year) so I chose happy colorful colors. I am calling this my “Hope” shawl. The Hope that eventually the darkness ends and there is Light. After the rain there is a rainbow, which is a symbol of Hope. Yada yada yada, let’s get to the shawl, shall we?? 😉

Pattern: Crochet Serenity Shawl by Adoring Crochet, Designed by Pamela Barton

This pattern is free on YT and that walks you through each step. There is an option for purchase on Etsy, which I did purchase…however, the PDF is written a bit differently than the instructional video. I ended up just following along the video.

Yarn: Lion Brand Mandala Sparkle in color Draco. I used 2 skeins plus one color of a 3rd

Hook: Size G

Finished Measurements: Span: 52″, Center/Point = 26.5″ , ending with 26 double crochet rows.

As long as you know how to single crochet, chain and double crochet you can make this very easily as a beginner crochet-ist. (Is that even word?) Using self-striping yarn really brings it all out.

Would I make this again? Probably not. I’ve decided I don’t like triangle shawls. I am having the hardest time styling this thing.

Does it look cool? Yes. Especially on Mandy the Mannequin who looks good in everything.

Does it give me HOPE? Of course!

Does it fulfill all my hopes AND dreams??! That’s a stretch, lol. I’m sticking to the rectangular blanket style wraps next time. The pattern is great though, especially the instruction. So If it fulfills all your hopes and dreams I recommend giving this pattern a whirl!
